Personality: Lydia is a character who has experienced a tremendous amount--arguably the most--personal growth as the series has progressed. At the start of the series we are shown a girl whose sole mission in life is to be THE popular girl at Beacon Hills High. This campaign for notoriety has led to the self suppression of her own intelligence, the brief yet regrettable pursuit of her best friend's boyfriend, and the persistent refusal to get involved in situations she is being unavoidably drawn into anyway. She was a mean girl, albeit not your typical one. She didn't go out of her way to hurt the people around her, but she didn't stretch herself by way of kindness either.
After some time, and the emergence of some powerful supernatural gifts, this all began to change. It was revealed that she possesses the powers of the banshee, and she began to realize that her affinity for darkly stumbling into dangerous situations began to seem less like a curse, and more like her chance to be a part of the solution, and to use her limitless intellect to help and not just belittle.
By the time season 3 draws to a close, Lydia is a full fledged member of the team, and not only dives headlong into the action, but does so without ever losing an ounce of sass along the way. She is trusted by the people around her, and not just because she is talented, but because she reminds others that they are too. She pushes Scott, Allison, and even Stiles to recognize their own abilities and strengths, and reminds them of what they are when they have moments of doubt.
Lydia is a genius (literally), and a smart ass, who never comes short of things to say, but as time goes on, she finds herself coming up with more and more niceties to pepper in among the teasing. She cares about the people in her life, and whether or not she is always prepared to admit it out loud, she would do anything in her power to protect them.
Background: Here
Abilities: Lydia possesses a genius level IQ, and is especially knowledgeable in the fields of math and science. She knows archaic latin, and possesses great memory skills. She is also a banshee with the ability to foretell death, consistently arriving at the scenes of people's ends with no intention of doing so. She can also use her supernatural skills to make spiritual connections between items and events from their past, such as the time she used Derek's mother's claws to "see" a memory Talia had stolen from Peter.
First Person: [It has been about an hour and a half since she arrived. Lydia has confirmed that Stein is gone and that as far as can be determined, none of the Beacon Hills kids have returned.
She is standing in the middle of the city, scanning the crowds making their way around her, just hoping for at least one familiar face. She didn't make that many friends the last time, but at this point even someone who isn't a total stranger would be a godsend.]
Oh for God's sake. I am Lydia freaking Martin! People know me!
[Oh good. She's yelling now.]
Third Person:
The sun had started to set about fifteen minutes before, and every once in a while there would be a break in the trees lining the tracks, and Lydia could see it descending toward the rolling hills in the distance. She sighed, and pressed her head against the glass. The train car was empty and quiet, but Lydia hadn't cared. She'd been on this train before, and this time she was prepared.
When the train slowed to a stop at the station, there was no hesitation. No fear of what was to come. She wasn't sure who would be there this time, but at least she knew where she was.
"Welcome to Ruby City." The words fell from her mouth as she stood. Prada wasn't with her this time, so with empty hands she made her way through the train cabin. She stood on the gangway connection at the top of the stairs for a moment.
It took her a moment to figure out what felt off, why she was waiting. It was the nerves, or rather, the lack thereof. She felt calm, and unafraid, a complete reversal of her first arrival. The last time she had been here she had just gone through Peter's revival, and her already addled mind hadn't known how to survive. It was only when she had found the others that...
The others. She'd been the last one here before she had mysteriously reappeared in Beacon Hills. Now she was back in Ruby City, and she had no idea if she'd be the only one again. How long had she been gone? She only had one way to find out.
Another sigh, her shoulders bobbed up and down slowly in rhythm with her breath. She flipped her loose strawberry blonde hair over her shoulder and smiled.
"Well. Let's go see who wants to play."
